Deano dazzler as Ants draw at Vale of Clyde

A dazzling Dean McKay strike in the 51st minute ensured the Ants didn’t leave Fullerton Park empty handed however they did feel aggrieved when Thomas Miller appeared to be pulled back in the box as he attempted to connect with a Ross Loughlin free kick but Mr Husband-Powton waived the claims away and the match finished all square.

Vale of Clyde took the lead in the 23rd minute when CONNOR STEVENSON, who looked a yard offside when the ball was slipped through to him, slipped the ball under Priestley in the Ants goal. Neither side really created many chances in the first half, Miller coming closest for the Ants with a header which went wide from a corner and Stevenson dragging a shot just wide for the Vale.

The second half was only 6 minutes old when a headed clearance only went as far as DEAN MCKAY who did well to control with his chest before sending a dipping volley over the head of the Vale keeper to level the scoring and it finished 1-1.

McCluskey hat-trick sinks Ants as Roch edge battle of Saints

A 27 minute hat-trick from TJ McCluskey saw St Roch’s run out 3-2 winners at James McGrory Park. Things started brightly for the Ants when BRIAN HENDERSON scored his first goal for the club after 11 minutes,  finishing from close range after a great run and shot by Miller. 3 Minutes later and St Roch’s were level. TJ MCCLUSKEY firing past the diving Baker in the Ants goal with a fine turn and shot. Still with only 17 minutes on the clock the game saw it’s third goal when MCCLUSKEY was played in by a quick free kick and made no mistake as he slotted home his and the home sides second. Showing they have resolve and bottle the Ants pulled it back to 2-2 after 22 minutes, a fine move saw Gordon find Miller on the left wing, he cut the ball back to Maxwell who played a delightful pass through to WULLIE DUNCAN and the Ants top scorer made no mistake to level up. The winning goal was scored in the 27th minute when MCCLUSKEY got the break of the ball in a tackle and slid the ball past Baker into the same corner as his other two. St Roch’s were reduced to ten men right on half time when Maguire picked up a straight red for a tackle on Maxwell but despite their man advantage in the second half and a few great chances, the Ants slipped to defeat.

Duncan at the Double as Ants stage comeback

The Ants came from two goals behind at home to draw 2-2 against Carluke, and the home side could be forgiven for feeling that they maybe should have won the game after passing up a number of good chances. Carluke got off to a flier when WEIR netted in only the 4th minute, firing home a free-kick right from right on the edge of the box, before SMILLIE doubled the visitors lead when he beat the offside trap to fire past Jonny Duncan in the Ants goal. The Ants reduced the deficit when WULLIE DUNCAN fired home just before half time, latching on to a Kyle Brown overhead kick attempt and it was WULLIE DUNCAN again in the 63rd minute who scored to earn the home side a share of the points. Last minute agony as Ants unbeaten record ended

The Ants unbeaten home record in the league was ended in the 91st minute when Craig McGregor climbed highest and headed home from a corner. The Ants had taken the lead after a great strike by Dean McKay but an equaliser from former Ants hero Jay McKay and that last minute equaliser saw last season’s division two champions get all three points.

Halloween howler for Ants as Maryhill take the points

This was by no means a classic. Maryhill took all three points after Justin Begg’s 18th minute strike but to be brutally honest it was a poor match devoid of much in the way of chances. Maryhill bossed the first half and Ants keeper Jack Baker helped keep the score down but the second half will not live long in the memory for anyone attending
