Forth Wanderers U20s vs Ants Under 20s

A five star showing from the Young Team tonight as they put Forth Wanderers U20s to the sword in the Scottish Lowlands Development Football League Knockout Cup West.

Ethan Prior opened the scoring after being found alone in the box by Shay Harrison after 15 minutes before Stephen McCulloch lashed past the Forth keeper to double our lead with 21 on the clock. It looked like Prior was going to notch his second and the Ants third as his shot might have just been creeping in at the post but just to make sure Shay Harrison got on the end of it and slotted home from 2 yards with 5 till the break.

The Second half was more or less one way traffic as Luke Gallagher scored direct from a corner after 52 minutes and then turned provider as his cross found the head of Findlay Provan and the big man made no mistake. Alex Maclachlan and Ben Lavety, who had signed from Erskine 05’s came on for the last half hour or so and Ben was close to getting himself on the score sheet as the wee man outjumped the Forth centre half pairing but the keeper saved well. Forth did have a great chance to grab a consolation when McKinnon saved onto the post and then from the rebound produced an excellent double save to keep his and his defences clean sheet intact.

A fine result and performance from the #YoungTeam tonight. Thanks to Forth for the game and good luck for the rest of the season team.
