  Port Glasgow 2 v 1 St Anthony's

Enraged St Anthony's players paid the penalty when the referee made an absolute howler 25 minutes from time. Ants player Donald who was about to clear saw Monaghan throw himself infront of the ball landing on top of Donald and when the Ants expected a free kick they looked on in disbelief when a penalty was given.

The kick off was delayed 15 mins as the Ants struggled with the heavy traffic on the way from Govan and their lack of a pre-match warm up showed in the early part of the game with the Port being the dominant force with a couple of minutes gone Temporal raced clear down the right however his cross was cleared off Nugent's boot by Mansare, Saints should have opened the scoring in their first attack when a superb pass sent Williams through 1 on 1 with the keeper but he dragged his shot inches wide of the right hand post. Port opened the scoring in the 9th minute when a Becklay cross caught Turner and Mansare waiting for each other to clear and Flynn nipped in to score from 4 yards. Flynn almost added a second when he was allowed to turn but from 8 yards shot well wide. Gradually the Govan side gained a foothold and equalised in the 22nd minute when a corner was only partially cleared and a trialist crashed home a volley from 8 yards. Port again came close when a Coyle free kick struck the post. Both teams then showed frustration towards more and more erratic refereeing decisions with Temporal, Mansare and Donald all booked. Right on half time Monaghan's cross zipped across the goal line but there were no takers.

Port Glasgow 1 v 1 St Anthony's

In the 46th minute Coyle's corner kick hit the post then The Ants trialist missed a golden opportunity when he headed wide from 6 yards. The game was littered with petty fouls and decisions and we again saw players taking frustrations out on each other. Williams then had a shot blocked by Temporal then came that awful decision when Monaghan threw himself into Donald and Coyle gave Turner no chance from the spot. Saints responded with Mulheron shooting over then Turner denied Coyle a hat-trick with a superb tip over the crossbar. Saints discipline then began to let them down especially as the game seemed to stop every 30 seconds and Mulheron, Mulligan, Ants captain McDonald and Henderson were all booked. The only efforts of note for the remainder of the game saw Nugent's shot deflected for a corner and Loughton's long range effort which keeper Graham held confidently
