  Cumbernauld 1 v 1 St Anthony's

The teams met for the third time this season and a share of the spoils on an energy sapping pitch was probably fair although if a superb 25 yard strike from Donald had deflected off the inside of the post and gone the correct way Saints would have been celebrating all the way back to Govan.

It was the Ants who dominated the opening half with a strong wind at their backs. Some neat football ended with Callaghan shooting inches over in 5 mins. 10 minutes later Saints pressure was to reap its rewards when Callaghan dispossessed full back Rea on the touchline then cut the ball back to the onrushing Ford who's powerful shot hit the underside of the bar before going over the line. United's only reply of the game so far came in 25 minutes when a spectacular over-head kick from Finnegan was yards off target. United midfielder McGuire picked up a booking for a reckless tackle then on the half hour mark tried to con the ref who was in the perfect position to notice a clear dive in the box and a second yellow card. United created a couple of half chances but Brown and McLaughlin didn't test Turner. Mulheron then set up Callaghan but Kidd did well to save at the second attempt. A flurry of activity before the interval almost drew United level but Ford popped up to clear off the line. The second half was mainly a poor affair with Saints content to sit deep and play on the break, A succession of dangerous corner's rained down on the Ants goal but Turner and the Ants defence superbly marshalled by McDonald held firm, Not surprisingly a bad break or a small mistake can prove costly and that's what happened in the 78th minute. Saints won a throw in and the ball was cleared up-field, Struck a United player and straight to 9 who raced in on goal shooting through Turners legs as the keeper tried to narrow the angle. The remaining 10 minutes saw play flow from end to end and a cross from Struthers was just over. Five minutes from time Donald collected forty yards from goal, he weaved past a couple of defender's and unleashed a scorching 25 yard drive which beat keeper Kidd but agonisingly hit the inside of the post and shot across the goal-mouth to safety. Saints had another chance deep into injury time but McCuish's free kick from 20 yards struck the defensive wall and was Cleared
