   Blantyre Vics 3 v 0 Saint Anthony's

For 62 minutes it looked that Saints domination of the match would get that vital opening goal and go on to a comfortable win however when 9 volleyed Vics infront the Govan side fell to pieces in a six minute spell that saw Vics reduced to 10 men and score another two goals.

No-One would have thought that outcome would have been possible after witnessing the first half with Vics constantly on the defensive and hitting on the break. Hare, Mulheron, McMullan and Williams all saw efforts go wide of the target then a great run and shot by an Ants Trialist flew inches wide. Yet two rare breakaway's saw Turner save from 6 and Mansare clear from 7 before more efforts on the Vics goal failed to find their intended target

Half Time

Blantyre Vics 0 v 0 Saint Anthony's

Saints continued where they left off in the second half and the keeper produced a fine save from McMullan. Further chances and resolute defending kept the scoresheet until the 62nd minute when Vics opened the scoring with another rare break. Mansare gave away a free kick that was played short then fired into the box where 9 was standing completely unmarked and volleyed past Turner. A minute later the home side were reduced to 10 men when 2 was shown a second yellow card however with Saints showing no shape and a scant disregard to the art of defending allowed two further breakaways to produce another 2 goals. Even then they still created enough chances to get back into the game however their lack of shape meant that when the overworked Vics defence cleared, a counter attack by the lone striker caused them problems. Having not won a game since October now's the time to turn a nicey nicey footballing team into a team that needs and gets results. Blantyre deserved their first win of the season because they scored goals and their defending was resolute. The 3-0 scoreline may be flattering but it might just be the kick up the backside thats needed for The Ants to get their house back in order.
