  Cumbernauld 3 v 1 St Anthony's

Saints were sent crashing out of the West of Scotland cup due to their inability to defend three set pieces all of which ended with the ball in the back of the net.

United started well with a goal in the 10th minute when 11 was allowed a free run through a static ants defence to head home a corner. Ants almost struck back immediately but Donnelly's neat turn and shot was held by Sexton. The home side then created a couple of chances but Turner held from 9 and then 2. In 43 minutes 10 had a shot deflected for a corner and from another free header the ball landed at the feet of 7 who lashed home from 3 yards. Saints final reply of the half landed to McMillan who shot wide from 18 yards.

Half Time - Cumbernauld 2 - 0 Saint Anthony's

It was the Ants turn to start the half well and reduced the deficit in 51 minutes when a brilliant run by Williams ended with a corner. Williams took the kick himself and McMillan guided a glancing header past the helpless Sexton. Saints then had strong penalty claims waived aside when Callaghan was caught by a flailing boot 3 yards from goal. Worse was to follow in the 61st minute when United won another corner and again a free run into the box saw 4 head powerfully into the net. Saints tried hard to get back into the match but Donnelly's shot was held by Sexton then Williams shot wide from a good position. With 20 minutes left the Govan side's chances of a comeback suffered a huge blow when Mansare was shown a second yellow by the over zealous Mr Rafferty who began to produce further yellow's at every tackle now. Saints almost pulled a goal back late in the match but McEwan was well off target as he tried to lob the keeper to sum up the Saints afternoon
