Hello everyone,
Well, thats the World Cup done for another four years and what a great tournament it was. Plenty of fantastic football, great goals and lots of controversy culminated in Germany lifting the small trophy to become World Champions. Most of you will agree that the Germans probably deserved to win it considering some of their performances on the way to the Final.
I hope that you have all enjoyed being part of the St. Anthony’s Sweep and after a slow start I hope you have been kept up to date regularly with what has been happening. It has been hard work scoring all the games but it has been really enjoyable seeing peoples scores fluctuate game by game and also to see some people come from nowhere to mount a late challenge.
Now it is the moment we have been waiting for.
For the first time since we started doing the World Cup/Euro sweeps we have two players on the same score. BRIAN SMITH & IAN MCMENEMY have finished on a fantastic score of 560 points. As was mentioned in the last update, if this was the case the outcome would be settled by the person who had predicted the most correct scores in the Group Stages.
All sheets have been verified and I can confirm that Brian got 3 scores correct in the Groups and Ian managed to correctly predict 5.
This means that IAN MCMENEMY has won our first prize of £250 and BRIAN SMITH has won the second prize of £125. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating them both on their wins.
The final leaderboard is at the bottom of the post as is the list of all names and the numbers for you all who can win their £5 entry fee back. Numbers will be drawn at random tomorrow and results will be posted as soon as all numbers have been drawn.
May I take this opportunity to thank you all very much for taking part in our Sweep. Your support is greatly appreciated by everyone at St. Anthony’s and we hope that this sweep has added to your enjoyment of Brazil 2014. Please keep your eyes peeled for an email explaining a sweep we are looking to do for next season. This will be a season long sweep as long as we get a certain amount of participants and we are looking at giving out lots of prizes over the season. More details will follow.
Thank you all once again
Regards,
ANTHONY McKENNA
